Praise the Lord for Lana from Ambassadors For Christ! She was the first to fill out our online form.

What are the current pursuits of this group?
We started our weekly evangelism on Saturdays at noon two weeks ago*. We meet in the William Pitt Union and try to talk to students about Christ and their faith through surveys. Today, we just had a bake sale for the Invisible Children of Uganda in the Union. Recently, some of our topics of discussion have been “Iron Sharpens Iron” and the “Rain” video by Nooma. We just started our care groups last week, which are smaller intimate groups within AFC. We will have our Prayer Shut-In next Friday* from 8pm-midnight in dining room B of the WPU October 3rd*. I’m so sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.  I saw this flyer lying in my room and a “light bulb” went off.  I’m glad someone desires to do this.

Have you talked with other Christian groups lately?
Yes, actually my room-mate is involved in another Christian organization called Cornerstone and I try to go to their General body meetings periodically with her (Wed.) I also have some friends in CRU (Campus Crusades for Christ), but their general body meetings are also on Wed. Basically, I try to split time between both groups. I just ran into someone from ACF today and we got to talk for a little bit. I talked to the girls on Anointed Steps of Faith (ASF) and we are trying to do something together maybe next semester. I know some people in SOGC. I ran into the president of CSF at Bendum today too. I’m really excited about us doing something together. We usually have an All Campus Worship event this semester and Jesus Week in the spring.

*Note from synclesia: Our apologies for the extreme delay on this post… the times/dates are slightly out-dated due to us being a little slow.

What a day! Praise the Lord!

UPitt had its annual Student Activities Fair, which gave us the opportunity to talk with close to 20 different Christian campus organizations. A small group of us decided to visit all these groups… hopefully to encourage them in their pursuits for the Lord, and to try to start fellowship with them.

To say the least, it was a blessed day in which the Lord gave us much encouragement through the little time of talking with our fellow brothers and sisters.

Positives: We felt encouraged that there were many believers willing to stand for the Lord to pursue His riches through reading the Bible, prayer, and fellowship. And through talking to the many groups, several seemed interested in at least having us visit for fellowship. Honestly, we look forward to laying hold of what God may be accomplishing through these groups on campus. We do hope to meet them again, and hope they understand why we came… to promote fellowship between Christians.

Negatives: Not surprisingly, there were a couple of groups that seemed either suspicious of our intentions to promote fellowship between the groups, or weary that there were other groups in the past that tried to do the same… We are not sure exactly how to respond to these thoughts… except to pray in our hearts that any negative experiences they may have had in the past, would not interfere with the possibility of true, open fellowship with us as believers in Jesus.

Despite these small obstacles, we are optimistic that the Lord is really doing something on the UPitt campus, and that through time, fellowship, and prayer with these groups and their leaders, the Lord could foster brotherly love among all of us…. more to come soon, after we gather our thoughts on the experience.

That they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. (John 17:21)

Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philip. 2:2-5)

Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” Has Christ been divided?… For you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not mere men? (1 Cor. 1:12-13, 3:3-4)

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. (1 Cor. 12:4-6)

Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. (Eph. 4:3-6)

We just started this up… hopefully soon we will have some great content.  We put up our first attempt at an about page, but that will change very soon, as we continue to work on our underlying purpose.

We plan on bringing some new ideas and design for the website as well.  Be prepared for future activities and events that will be geared towards Christian ’cross-pollination‘.  This is an endeavor that will hopefully be a life long process for all involved.

Also, any graphically inclined folks out there that have ideas for the website, please share.  We are constantly looking for better ways to relay the message.
